Truly Excellent Example of a Sought After Antique 9ct Rose Gold Victorian Long Guard Chain.
Remarkable survivor, full length in excellent order, no signs of alteration or repair, links still tight, faceted edges still pretty sharp.
Very useful and wearable antique chain manufactured in 9ct gold, it has attractive fancy oval belcher links with hand soldered leaf designs to each link; it also has the original `dog clip` (the spring is strong).
Presented in truly excellent original condition, traces of the original gilding still there between the links.
A highly useful article of antique jewellery that can be worn on its own, or take a locket or pendant, fob or seal and can be wrapped around the neck twice.
The chain measures 55 inches in length. Equivalent to 139.7cm
The links are 2.3.4mm wide.
Chain weighs 33.6g.
Stamped '9c' on the clip for 9ct gold. Circa late 1800's to early 1900's.
Study under magnification shows the hand drawing of the gold wire and hand soldering.
Harder and harder to find good old ones like this to show off your antique pendant or hang a locket or fob from.
CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
This is a pre-loved antique item, making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
It has been ever so gently cleaned in our workshop.
