Stunning Antique Old Mine Cut Diamond and Natural Split Pearl High Carat Gold Star Pendant / Brooch In Original Fitted Case!
Chain NOT Included.

Bigger and better than most we see. Superbly made and utterly mint.

A fabulous piece of antique jewellery. Manufactured in high carat yellow gold and depicts a star.
The brooch has a large old mine cut diamond in the centre with 32 natural split pearls arranged in a raised star shape around the principal stone. Also there are shorter diamond set points (8 in total) between the longer points.

We believe that the finest old cut diamonds carry a unique character and charm, unparalleled against their modern counterparts.

The reverse of the brooch has a shepherd's hook detachable pendant fitting on the back with a tapered split pearl set bale meaning it can also be worn as brooch or a pendant.
Detachable brooch fitting unscrews from the reverse.

The largest pearls are positioned in the centre of the star and tapering in size from the centre.
The brooch has a total of 36 pearls.

The diamonds are well matched, white and bright.

Traditionally in antique jewellery design a star represents direction, and guidance for the spirit.

Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character.

Principal diamond measures 3.6mm in diameter and the outer diamonds measure approx. 2.4mm in diameter. Diamonds have an estimated carat weight of 0.50 carats. We have been very conservative in our estimate.
Pearls vary in size, largest measures 3.4mm in diameter and smallest measures 1.5mm in diameter.

Good size, overall dimensions are 31.8 x 29.6mm (not including pendant bale) and 12.4mm in depth.
Bale measures 11.1mm in length.

Weighty example at 9.3g.

Tests high carat gold.

Dates from the Victorian period, circa 1880 to 1890. The reverse of the brooch has been `workshop scratched` 1892. So I take that as a manufacture date.

Beautiful piece of estate jewellery, will look stunning against a blouse, tie or cravat.

No heir to inherit, now means it must find a new home, being offered for the first time in generations.

Will quickly become a family heirloom and `go to` piece, this stunning brooch now on the market after being in private hands for decades, and looking for a new `forever home`
