Antique Edwardian 15ct Gold and Platinum Flying Pheasant Bar Brooch with Enamelled Head. English Circa 1910's / 1920's
A fabulous piece of antique jewellery, manufactured in both 15ct gold and platinum. The brooch is handmade and depicts a flying pheasant with a yellow gold body, and rose gold detailing on the wings and a platinum tail. The head is enamelled in red, green and yellow.
The bar brooch is manufactured in 15ct gold.
The pheasant is beautifully engraved/chased for added definition.
These handmade miniature works of art need to be studied, and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character. A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.
Pheasant measures 25.9mm x 14.2mm and 3.9mm in depth.
Overall dimensions are 61.8mm x 14.2mm and 8.3mm in depth.
Nice weight example, he weighs 4.4g.
Hand engraved '15ct PLAT' on the reverse.
Dates from the late Edwardian period, circa 1910-1920.
A beautiful piece of antique jewellery will look stunning against a blouse, tie, or cravat.
Will quickly become a family heirloom and 'go to' piece, this stunning brooch now on the market after being in private hands for decades, and looking for a new `forever home`
CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
This is an antique item making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
The settings are in good condition and can be worn every day (with respect!).
