It is termed as an “Albert” chain after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, who popularised the wearing of chains across the waistcoat with seals and a watch attached to the dog clip terminal.

Weighs 60.9 g; a very solid albert, that uses an excellent gauge of gold. Would cost a small fortune to make today!

the T-bar, swivels and bolt ring all match and are hallmarked 18ct gold. Sponsors mark 'W. J. S'.

No sign of any repairs.

We have only ultrasonically cleaned it, not polished it, so that it retains its patina.
