Excellent Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Ornate Fetter Link Albert Watch Chain with Dog Clip Clasp and T-Bar.
Genuine antique chain with a lovely decorative design with an ornate fetter or `trombone` link design consisting of long links and trace links in between; it uses a secure dog clip clasp and has a T-Bar attached.
The chain is in good condition and is a good length at 15.25 inches,(Equivalent to 38.7cm in Length.) meaning it will go around most necks comfortably. There is an extra .75 of an inch in spare chain, originally to take a fob or seal, that could be added into the chain for extra length if needed.
It is termed an “Albert” chain after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, who popularised the wearing of chains across the waistcoat with seals and a watch attached to the dog clip terminal.
Weighs 31.3g; a very solid Albert, that uses an excellent gauge of gold.
All the links, dog clip and T-bar are hallmarked 9ct gold. Dated Birmingham 1921. Sponsors mark 'D B'.
No sign of any repairs.
We have only ultrasonically cleaned it, not polished it so that it retains its patina.
Genuine one dating from the late Edwardian era; dated 1921.
They really aren't out there in this tidy condition any more.
