Antique Edwardian Sapphire and Diamond Daisy Cluster 18ct White Gold Drop Pendant on 18ct White Gold Chain.

Very collectable, beautiful and highly wearable necklace.

A lavalier or lavaliere or lavalliere is an item of jewellery consisting of a pendant, sometimes with one stone, sometimes several, pendulous and centred from a necklace.
The style was popularized by the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France. A lavalier can be recognized most for its drop, usually consisting of a stone and/or a chandelier pendant, which is attached directly to the chain, not by a bail.

This pendant is so pretty and is typical of the jewels produced in the early 1900s. This very stylish pendant is composed of a millgrain set ((From the French word mille for a thousand, and grain as the same meaning in English, it refers to what appears to be thousands of tiny beads upon a metal precipice or edge) cluster of old European cut diamonds (10 in total) with a large round sapphire in the centre within a scalloped 18ct white gold edging.
The necklace has a large round sapphire at the top with another old European cut diamond suspended below and terminates with the cluster.
A 'knife-edged' gold bar joins the sapphire, diamond and cluster drop where the chain meets the pendant on either side.

Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to appreciate their character fully.

The sapphire at the top measures 4.4mm in diameter. Estimated carat weight of 0.35 carats.
Sapphire in the cluster measures 4.6mm in diameter. Estimated carat weight of 0.40 carats.
The diamond in the drop measures 3.3mm in diameter.
The diamond in the cluster measures 2.5 in diameter.
Diamonds have a total calculated carat weight of 0.75 carats.

The cluster measures 11.1mm in diameter and 4.0mm in depth.

The chain measures 17 inches in length. Equivalent to 43.18cm.
Chain links are 1.1mm in diameter.
