Antique Edwardian Sapphire Puffy Heart 9ct Gold Secret Mizpah Bar Brooch.

A lovely genuine piece of antique jewellery, it has a round sapphire set within a puffy heart in the centre of the brooch and has a rose gold floral leaf motif/design on either side.
The centre section is hinged meaning it opens to reveal the Hebrew word 'Mizpah' engraved.
Mizpah means “watchtower”. A loose definition is “May God watch over you,” and the jewellery is meant to be given as a token of either love or friendship.

Sapphire is a gorgeous blue.

Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character.
A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.

Sapphire measures approx. 2.3mm in diameter.

Dimensions are 42.3mm x 9.8mm and 5.1mm in depth.

Weight 3.6g.

UK hallmarked 9ct gold. Dated Chester 1905. Sponsors mark 'M. V'.

Beautiful piece of antique jewellery that will look stunning against a blouse, tie or cravat.

This is an antique item making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
The settings are in good condition and can be worn every day (with respect!).
