Antique Georgian Untreated Ceylon Sapphire and Diamond Ring. Gold and Silver Set

Beautiful Quality Antique Georgian Ceylon Untreated Cabochon Sapphire and Diamond Gold and Silver Set Ring.

This superbly made ring dates from the Georgian era and dates from the late 18th Century, circa 1780 - 1800. 

This rare Georgian ring is manufactured in 15ct gold whilst the diamond settings on the shoulders are manufactured in sterling silver. It is set with a foiled back cabochon sapphire in the centre within rose cut diamond foliate shoulders (8 diamonds in total).  

As the sapphire is foil backed to the reverse, the stones brightness is enhanced as the light is reflected back through the stone to show off its rich blue hue, and remain full of life to this day.
The sapphire is securely set within gold closed-back pinched collet settings, whilst the diamonds are in pinch collet silver settings. 

The shank is ornate with scroll work. We are unwilling to size this ring - preferring it go to a collector.

They are just not out there in this sort of condition anymore, it is rare survivor of the Georgian era.

The superb sapphire has been independently assessed as being natural with no heat treatment and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - everything you want. The ring will be sent with the gemmological report.

Sapphire is a lovely mid blue with flashes of a lighter shade. 

Sapphire measures measures 12.5 x 9.4mm. Estimated carat weight of 7.41 carats. 
Diamond vary in size, largest measures 1.8mm in diameter and the smallest measures 1.4mm in diameter. 

The carving show no signs of wear, settings are perfect; Please note this is 240 year old collectors ring, it should be treated with respect.

Head of ring measures approx. 10.5mm (width) tapering to a 2.3mm shank, and 9.0mm in depth.
Ring weighs 2.6g. This is a quality ring.

The ring size is currently G 1/2 (UK Scale) or 3 5/8 (US Size). Please note this ring CANNOT be resized. 

Overall, a highly collectable and wearable piece of genuine antique jewellery.

CONDITION: Overall very good, with some light wear commensurate with age.
