Beautiful Antique Neapolitan Undyed Coral 15ct Gold Drop Earrings.
A delightful and rare pair of antique earrings dated from the late Victorian era.
Earrings are shaped to resemble a teardrop or pear shape, with each earring having a round coral at the top of the earring and an articulate pear drop coral piece attached below.
When worn they articulate beautifully.
Diving for coral has taken place in the Mediterranean Sea ever since Roman times, and in the 15th century Torre del Greco which is now part of the Naples commune became known for its coral diving and harvesting of red coral.
This quality pair are manufactured in 15ct gold and are a superbly handmade pair of antique earrings.
15ct gold was only a legal standard of gold in British jewellery between 1854 and 1931. This means that any piece of 15ct antique gold jewellery from Britain dates somewhere between 1854 and 1931 and you have a genuine piece of antique or vintage jewellery.
