A Lovely Colourful Antique Victorian 15ct Gold Pendant.
(Chain not included)
Manufactured in 15ct yellow gold dating from the mid Victorian era, circa 1850 - 1860.
The centre of the pendant has a lovely pink/red ruby within a setting of a rope border. Below the the ruby is an attractive blue enamelled fleur-de-lis drop. There is a further 2 rubies between the enamel.
Attached above the drop is a enamelled rhomboid design, and an attractive rhomboid bale.
The pendant is very difficult to describe, please refer to the images.
Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character.
15ct gold was only a legal standard of gold in British jewellery between 1854 and 1931. This means that any piece of 15ct antique gold jewellery from Britain dates somewhere between 1854 and 1931 and you have a genuine piece of antique or vintage jewellery.
Principal ruby measures approx. 2.6mm in diameter.
Outer rubies measure approx. 2.4mm in diameter.
Pendant measures 36.9mm x 17.6mm (not including bale) and 6.7mm in depth.
Bale measures 6.3mm in length.
Weight 3.2g.
Unmarked, tests 15ct gold.
Dates from mid Victorian period; circa 1850 - 1860.
CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very, very light wear commensurate with age.
Under scrutiny there is the smallest loss to the enamel where the pendant bale has rubbed against the body of the pendant.
This is an antique item, making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
There are a few light abrasions to the enamel near the top, please be aware this is a 170 year old antique pendant.
