Outstanding Vintage George I Style Fluted Sterling Silver Candlestick Holders
Will look magnificent on the Christmas table.
A magnificent pair of vintage sterling silver candlestick holders that are manufactured by Richard Comyns, a handsome pair with wide circular stepped bases and a reeded stem.
They are good quality and weight, as usual the bases are filled.
Both have matching hallmarks.
Height approx. 205.00mm.
Bases measure 118.2mm.
UK hallmarked sterling silver. Dated London 1969. Sponsors mark 'RC' for Richard Comyns.
The familiar mark RC, a pellet below, in a shaped shield, struck on these table ornaments is that of Richard Henry Comyns (25 December 1864 – 5 April 1953), representing William Comyns & Sons, of which he was appointed the permanent governing director when the firm was converted into a limited liability company in 1930. This RC mark continued to be used after R.H. Comyns’s death and until January 1993 when the business was liquidated and acquired as a subsidiary by Royal Selangor of Kuala Lumur, pewter manufacturers, established in 1885. The current name of the firm is Comyns of London Ltd., incorporated as a private limited company in April 1993.
Weighs is a quality 835g, that's 26.8 troy - bases are filled.
CONDITION: Good, lightly used, light surface marks commensurate with age, small ding to the very edge of the base of one.
They have been ever so gently cleaned in our workshop by hand, not machine polished, so retain their patina.
