Antique 18ct White Gold Diamond and Pearl Brooch. Manufactured by Mappin and Webb Circa 1901
A fabulous piece of antique jewellery, manufactured in 18ct white gold. The brooch is handmade and features natural `Old European Cut` diamonds and `Rose Cut` diamonds, and finished off with 4 natural split pearls.
The setting edges on all the stones have been beautifully finished with millegrain detailing which is typical of the Edwardian era
These handmade miniature works of art need to be studied, and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character. A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.
Pearls are approx. 4mm
Diamonds vary in size, the largest being 2.9mm and the smallest 1.7mm
Overall dimensions are 50mm x 14.5mm and 6.2mm in depth.
Weight 3.8g.
Date from the late Edwardian period, circa 1901.
A beautiful piece of antique jewellery will look stunning against a blouse, shirt, or cravat.
CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
This is an antique item making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
