Antique 18ct and 9ct Gold Fox Bar Brooch / Cravat Pin. English Circa 1910's / 1920's
A fabulous piece of antique jewellery, manufactured in both 18ct gold 9ct gold. The brooch is handmade and depicts a foxes head that is manufactured in 18ct gold, whilst the bar brooch is manufactured in 9ctgold. .
The fox is beautifully engraved/chased for added definition.
These handmade miniature works of art need to be studied, and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character. A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.
Fox measures 12.8mm x 10.9mm and 9.9mm in depth.
Overall dimensions are 46.0mm x 10.9mm and 10.8mm in depth.
Nice weighty example, he weighs 5.0g.
Hand engraved '18ct front. 9ct pin'. on the reverse.
Dates from the late Edwardian period, circa 1910-1920.
A beautiful piece of antique jewellery will look stunning against a blouse, tie, or cravat.

CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
