Beautiful Antique Victorian Turquoise Matrix 9ct Gold Drop Earrings.
A lovely pair of antique earrings dating from the Late Victorian Arts & Crafts period.
Each earring has a large natural piece of turquoise matrix suspended from a 9ct gold chain which attaches to the original screw back fittings.
We can alter to `shepherds crook` fittings for pierced ears for you if desired.
Turquoise is an opaque gem and is often formed in what is called matrix, a black or brown veining derived from the host rock in which the gem forms.
Turquoise is undoubtedly the gem most closely aligned to Arts and Crafts jewellery and was liberally used by a wide range of designer craftsmen.
Turquoise is also the birthstone for those born in December.
Turquoise matrix measures 11.5mm x 10.3mm and 5.3mm.
Overall measurement of 25.9mm x 10.3mm and 5.3mm in depth.
Combined weight 3.2g. They are a well made genuine antique pair that really make a statement in the ear.
Stamped '9ct Gold'.
We also are selling a stunning matching necklace purchased from the same source , on a separate listing.
CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
This is a antique item making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
The settings are in good condition and can be worn every day (with respect!).
