Antique Art Nouveau Murrle Bennett Turquoise Matrix and Natural Pearl 9ct Gold Pendant with original 9ct Gold Fetter Link Chain.
This beautiful antique jewel is designed in the art nouveau style which was fashionable during the late 1900s.
Manufactured in 9ct gold, there is an oval turquoise matrix positioned at the bottom of the pendant and an articulated natural pearl drop attached below. This finely made Edwardian pendant also has its original 9ct gold fetter link chain. They came together so we have kept them together, would be a pity to split now after all these years.
Superb strong green natural turquoise matrix.
Made circa 1900-1910 by Murrle Bennett and Company in Regent’s Street. London.
Murrle Bennett and Company was a wholesale jewellers established in London in 1884 by Ernst Mürrle and J B Bennett. They sold the jewellery fashions of the time and imported many pieces by Theodor Farhner from Pfortzeim in Germany.
Turquoise measures 7.00mm x 5.6mm.
Pearl measures 5.8mm x 5.6mm.
Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character.
Overall dimensions are 35.4mm x 18.3mm (not including pendant bale) and 5.4mm in depth.
Bale measures 8.4mm in length.
Chain measures 17.5 inches in length. Equivalent to 44.4cm.
Weight 4.8g.
Pendant is stamped '9ct' for 9ct gold. Sponsors mark 'M B c' for Murrle Bennett and Company .
Chain is stamped '9c' and has its lovely original old style bolt ring clasp still present.
Dates from the early Edwardian period, circa 1900.
Beautiful piece of estate jewellery, will look stunning against a blouse, tie or cravat or on a chain around the neck.
