Antique Art Nouveau Sapphire and Pearl 15ct Gold Pendant with Ornate 15ct Gold Chain.

These pendants were made popular by Arts & Crafts designers like Archibald Knox,  Murrle Bennett and C.R. Ashbee they are very wearable and collectible today.

Arts and Crafts jewellers avoided large, faceted stones, relying instead on the natural beauty of cabochon (shaped and polished) gems. They replaced the repetition and regularity of mainstream settings with curving or figurative designs, often with a symbolic meaning. 

Manufactured in 15ct gold, there is an articulate sapphire cluster (6 in total) drop in the centre with an spiral gold design around the centre stones, and there is a spiral motif at the bottom. The pendant also has an articulated 'knife-edged' gold bar drop at the bottom which is set with a natural seed pearl and a round sapphire below. 
Sapphires are a fabulous cornflower blue. 
Pendant has ornate rectangular link chain attached that is also manufactured in 15ct gold and has an antique barrel clasp. 

Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character.

Chain measures 16 Inches in length. Equivalent to 40.6cm in length.
