A wonderful little Sprite. Dating From The Late 19th Century.
The urban myth of the Gobbo is a fascinating blend of cultural history and folklore.
It is often associated with the belief that hunchbacks, or individuals with kyphosis, were revered for their ability to bring good luck and prosperity. This myth is rooted in the idea that the unique appearance of a hunchback could capture attention and elicit positive responses, leading to the belief that touching or rubbing the back of a hunchback would reveal hidden treasures. The gobbo, as a representation of this myth, became a symbol of good fortune and protection against misfortune.
He has a well carved face, hat and coat, no signs of damage at all.
Dimensions 22.6mm x 7.5mm (NOT INCLUDING THE JUMP RING AT THE TOP)
Jump ring 4.1mm x 0.9mm and is 9ct Gold
