Exquisite Antique Diamond Platinum and 18ct Gold Drop Earrings.

Genuine Antique pair dating from the Edwardian period, Circa 1900 - 1910 so rare to find today.

Fine quality bespoke earrings, each handmade with one large old European cut diamond at the top, and a marquise drop attached below. The marquise drop has 12 tapered old European cut diamonds positioned in a line.

We believe that the finest old European cut diamonds carry a unique character and charm, unparalleled against their modern counterparts.

The earrings also have with a millgrain border (From the French word mille for a thousand, and from grain as the same meaning in English, it refers to what appears to be thousands of tiny beads upon a metal precipice or edge).

Hand made in platinum fronts whilst the posts and backs are 18ct yellow gold.
Its a rarity to have survived, under magnification it shows the handcrafting and hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied, and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character. A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.

Sure to become a favourite `go to` evening/drop pair, they really are a rare find, now looking for a new `forever home`.

The principal old European cut diamond measures 3.4mm in diameter
The diamonds on the drop vary in size, the largest measure 2.7 whilst the smallest measure 1.4mm in diameter.

Diamonds have a calculated carat weight of 1.5 carats, sure to make a statement in your ear.

Earrings have total overall measurement of approx. 35.0mm x 4.8mm and 3.5mm in depth
Combined weight 3.9g

Platinum fronts/settings, 18ct yellow gold back.

We have fitted new secure posts and scroll fittings, you can wear them confidently.

Fastenings seem to have been updated to posts and butterfly fittings, maybe originally had shepherds crooks.


CONDITION: Overall very good, with some light wear commensurate with age.
