Rare Antique Golden Topaz and Old Cut Diamonds Brooch Circa 1840/1850. Gold and Silver Set.

A nice early piece, English, mid-19th century, pre-dates the use of white gold or platinum, so the old European cut and rose-cut diamonds are correctly period-set in silver.

We see very little golden topaz; it is becoming increasingly rare.

The beautiful coloured topaz measures approximately 11.7mm x 8.8mm and 4.7mm deep. Calculated to weigh 3.44 Carats.

Surrounded by six original rose-cut diamonds, the ends of the bar terminate in a pair of old European cut diamonds.

Bar length 41.5mm. Some old jewellers' stock inventory numbers hand scratched on the reverse of the bar.
