This fabulous snake ring dates from the mid-Victorian to early Edwardian era; circa 1880 -1900. He is manufactured in 18ct gold and is beautifully modelled and it wraps around the finger. He has 2 gold beads to represent his eyes.
Snake rings were very popular in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods as the snake motif in antique jewellery represents “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer.
Weight is a quality 10.8g.
The head of the ring measures 10.2mm and tapers to an 8.5mm shank.
Stamped '18'. for 18ct gold.
The ring is currently size O (UK Scale) or 7 (US Size). Unfortunately, due to the design of the shank, we can only tweak the size slightly, maybe one size either way.
Overall a highly collectable and wearable piece of antique jewellery.
CONDITION: Overall good, with some light wear commensurate with age. This is an antique item, making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent. The settings are in perfect condition and can be worn every day (with respect!). It has been professionally cleaned in our workshop.
