Truly Excellent Example of a Sought After Antique Victorian 9ct Gold Long Guard Chain. English Circa 1890.
Remarkable survivor, full length in excellent order, no signs of alteration or repair, links still tight, faceted edges still pretty sharp.
Very useful and wearable antique chain manufactured in 9ct gold, it has attractive fancy oval belcher links; and has the original bolt ring (the spring is strong).
Presented in truly excellent original condition, traces of the original gilding still there between the links.
A highly useful article of antique jewellery that can be worn on its own, or take a locket or pendant, fob or seal and can be wrapped around the neck twice.
The chain measures 53 inches in length. Equivalent to 134.6cm
The links are 2.8mm wide.
Chain weighs 22.9g.
Unmarked, tests 9ct gold. Dates from the mid to late Victorian era, Circa 1890.
Study under magnification shows the hand drawing of the gold wire and hand soldering.
Harder and harder to find good old ones like this to show off your antique pendant or hang a locket or fob from.
