Antique Late Georgian Brooch. Rose Cut Diamonds. C1800
Good Georgian pieces are harder and harder to find and highly collectible.
This gorgeous late Georgian brooch has been crafted with a gold back and silver front to complement the stones. It has been set with varying-sized rose-cut diamonds around in a circular shape. All the diamonds are closed back, a tell-tale sign of quality Georgian craftsmanship. The piece also features a retaining safety chain. So much love, passion, and history in one small piece of jewellery, the perfect gift for any antique lover.
These miniature works of art need to be studied, and you need to know the manufacturing process to fully appreciate their character. A modern one would be cast in one piece, having little `definition` left after the casting process.
The small ring is a later addition to take a safety chain.
Rose cut diamonds are hand cut, so not uniform, and the dimensions vary
The largest is approx. 4.5mm descending to the smallest which is approx. 2.2mm
Dimensions are 28.5mm x 3.90mm in depth.
Weighs 5.25g.

CONDITION: Overall very good, with some very light wear commensurate with age.
This is an antique item, making it excellent value for your money when compared to a new equivalent.
