Vintage 9ct Gold Blue John Swivel Pendant / Fob / Seal. Assayed in Sheffield 1983

An unusual  9ct yellow gold pendant, fob, swivel.

Blue John (also known as Derbyshire Spar) is a semi-precious mineral, a rare form of fluorite with bands of a purple-blue or yellowish colour.

A rare gemstone, found only at Blue John Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern at Castleton in Derbyshire in the United Kingdom.

Originally designed to hang on the end of a gentlemen's watch chain, now mainly worn as a pendant.

Very well made with an attractive `oversize` feature hallmark, 9ct Gold Sheffield 1983.

The diameter of the round `swivel` is 15.8mm.

The overall dimensions are 26mm high, and 20.5mm wide.
