Vintage Lavalier/Negligee Diamond Drop Platinum Necklace.

Very collectable, beautiful and highly wearable lavalier necklace.

A lavalier or lavaliere or lavalliere is an item of jewellery consisting of a pendant, sometimes with one stone, sometimes several, pendulous and centred from a necklace.
The style was popularized by the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France. A lavalier can be recognized most for its drop, usually consisting of a stone and/or a chandelier pendant, which is attached directly to the chain, not by a bail.

This beautifully designed example is manufactured in platinum and has a platinum fetter link chain consisting of long links and trace links in between attached. 
The necklace has a modern brilliant cut diamond weighing approx. 0.45 carats and has a large modern brilliant cut diamond weighing approx. 1.0 carats suspended below.
An articulated bar joins the diamonds and where the chain meets the pendant on either side.  
 
Under magnification it shows the hand soldering; these miniature works of art need to be studied and you need to know the manufacturing process to appreciate their character fully. 

Diamonds are typical of the period, white and bright with a few natural inclusions. Appraised colour H/I, clarity Vs to si1. 

Diamonds vary in size, the largest measures 6.5mm in diameter and weighs approx. 1.00 carats. 
The smaller diamond measures approx. 5.0mm in diameter, and weighs approx. 0.45 carats. 
Diamonds have a total calculated carat weight of 1.45 carats.

Measurements are 25.1mm x 7.5mm and 6.2mm in depth.

The chain measures 15.75 inches in length. Equivalent to 40.0cm. 
Chain links are 1.5mm in diameter.

Weight 5.5g.

Tests platinum.

CONDITION: Overall good, with some very lightest wear commensurate with age.
